How to read before and after photographs

Before and after images are the easiest thing in aesthetics to manipulate. Change the lighting, the angle, the expression or the camera and you can manufacture an improvement that never happened.

The images here are taken in the same conditions, without filters or retouching, and cropped so patients are not identifiable. Where a result took several months, that is stated.

Results also vary. Scar depth, skin type, how long a condition has been present and how consistently a plan is followed all change the outcome, which is why we discuss realistic expectations before starting rather than after.
