Dr. Praneeta Jain is a consultant dermatologist practising in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with a clinical focus on acne scarring, pigmentation, hair loss and vitiligo.
Most patients who walk into my clinic have already tried something. A cream a friend recommended, a facial that promised to fix everything, a course of tablets nobody explained. What they usually haven't had is a proper diagnosis.
Skin, hair and nail conditions are rarely random. Acne that keeps returning, pigmentation that darkens every summer, hair that thins along a particular pattern: each has a mechanism behind it. Find the mechanism and the treatment becomes obvious. Skip it, and you are guessing with someone's face.
So my consultations are longer than you might expect. I ask about your history, your routine, your family, sometimes your bloodwork. I explain what I am seeing and why. And I tell you honestly what a treatment can and cannot achieve, including when the honest answer is that you don't need a procedure at all.
That approach means slower promises and better outcomes. It is also the reason most of my patients arrive through the recommendation of another patient.
My own clinic in Jubilee Hills, co-founded to practise dermatology the way I believe it should be practised: unhurried consultations, honest planning and equipment chosen for outcomes rather than marketing.
I consult as a dermatologist at KIMS Hospitals, Gachibowli, where I see a broad range of medical dermatology, including complex and referred cases that benefit from a multi-speciality hospital setting.
Scars are not one problem. Ice pick, boxcar and rolling scars each respond to different tools, and treating them identically is why so many courses disappoint. I assess scar type before choosing between subcision, microneedling RF, CO₂ resurfacing or peels.
A condition I have a particular interest in, and one where patients are too often told nothing can be done. Medical management, NB-UVB and targeted phototherapy, and in stable cases surgical options can restore meaningful pigment.
Melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and tanning look similar and behave nothing alike. Indian skin also pigments in response to aggressive treatment, so the plan matters as much as the device.
Hair fall is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Thyroid function, iron and ferritin, hormonal patterns, scalp inflammation and family history all change the answer, so investigation comes before PRP or any other procedure.
Nail problems are too often dismissed as fungal infection. I have completed specialised study in onychoscopy, dermoscopy of the nail unit, so the nail is read rather than guessed at. I also perform nail biopsies, matrix procedures and ingrown toenail surgery.
Minor surgical dermatology done carefully, with scarring as the first consideration: mole and wart removal, cyst and lipoma excision, ear lobe repair, and surgical options for stable vitiligo.
Trained through the Supreme Master Injectors course at DIAS, my approach to injectables is deliberately conservative. The aim is that people notice you look well, not that you have had something done.
Children's skin is not adult skin at a smaller scale. Eczema, birthmarks, warts, molluscum, tinea and infantile rashes need gentler regimens and careful dosing, and I spend as much of the consultation explaining the condition to parents as treating it.
